Power Outage? No Worries, Just Text ComEd!
ComEd customers can now text the facility to let them know their power has be disrupted, AND ComEd will text BACK!
To report an outage, the free text messaging service is asking customers to Text STOP to 26633 (COMED) to cancel alerts and HELP to 26633 for information. ComEd will text back in a series of canned messages to let you know it is aware of the outage, when the service may be restored, when a crew is enroute to repair the issue, when the crew is on site, and finally, when power is restored!
To sign up, customers must enter their account number online (or use your either your phone number or SSN), and ComEd will respond to outages via 3rd party organization. ComEd also promises NOT to spam customers. No more than seven messages in a day will be sent and ONLY messages related to the ongoing issue. Please note that ComEd does not charge customers for this notification. Message and data rates may apply. Up to 7 outage alert messages per day.
