Blagojevich Sentenced to 168 Months in Prison (14 years)
Blagojevich tells judge he’s ‘unbelievably sorry’. Hands gripping the podium, Blagojevich pleas for mercy. He said he acted in a childish and immature manner, self centered and self absorbed. “I am accustomed to fighting back and I did and it was inappropriate,” he said.
He apologized to his brother, Robert, his wife and his daughters for destroying their family.
“I accept the people’s verdict, judge,” he continued. “They found me guilty. All I can say is I never wanted to hurt anyone, most of all Children’s Memorial Hospital. I am before you now as a person convicted of crimes….I would hope you could find some mercy.” It doesn’t appear to have helped…Judge Zagel imposed a sentence of 168 months in prison (14 years). In Illinois you must complete about 80% of this time, until he is in his mid-60′s.
He must begin his sentence on February 16, 2012. He will be free until this time.
