Lake in the Hills Man Dies After Fall
A 26 year old Lake in the Hills man working at his family’s business, Qualityscapes, Inc., dies after being pulled into a moving auger. The business is located on Sutton Road near Streamwood, according to a spokesman for the Cook County Sheriff’s office.
Tim Pittas suffered fatal injuries around 10:30am this morning, after his clothes became caught in the moving ice auger as he was unloading salt from the bed of his pickup truck.
Pittas was transported to Sherman Hospital in Elgin and pronounced dead at 11 a.m., Bilecki said.
A Cook County Medical Examiner’s spokesman said an autopsy performed Tuesday showed Pittas died of ligature strangulation. His death was ruled an accident.
The OSHA has opened an investigation into Pittas’ death, standard practice when there’s a fatality related to the workplace, spokesman Scott Allen said.
