Description: he Mt. Prospect Public Works Dept. will host its 33rd annual Open House on Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mt. Prospect Public Works facility, 1700 W. Central Rd.

Public works is responsible for many different services including the water and sewer system, solid waste services, snow plowing, tree maintenance, streets and sidewalks.

The purpose of the Open House is to show residents the different duties of the public works department in a “fun and entertaining way.”

The open house will features prizes, a tour of the facility, games, food, rides in the department’s aerial trucks, and a wide range of displays demonstrating how the village’s water system, sewer system, parkway trees, buildings, streets, and vehicles are maintained.

Children will have the opportunity to meet PW Paws, the Mt. Prospect Public Works Dept. mascot.

Approximately 2,000-3,000 people attend the annual event.
